Charles H. Bouck died at his home, 339 Vandalia street, Sunday afternoon after a long illness of cancer of the liver.
Mr. Bouck was born in Elgin and attended the public schools. He was afterwards employed in the watch factory and left that institution to enlisted in the United States army, being assigned to the 11th regiment of infantry, when he served three years, being a sergeant and drillmaster at the time of his discharge. The first year was spent in the west and two years in Cuba, where he saw hard service and received complimentary mention from his superiors.
Returning to Elgin, became an employee of the tool department of the watch factory, where he remained until compelled to resign on account of failing health. He was 27 years of age, and a son of Sylvester Bouck. He was a member of Silver Leaf camp of Woodmen, and was popular with his fellow associates.
During his last illness he was a patient at Sherman hospital several months.
His father, a sister Nellie, and brother, James resides in Elgin.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 1;30 o'clock at the house and at 2 at Grace church.
The deceased was a member of Company E, Third regiment previous to his enlistment and it is probable that his funeral will be a military one.
